What is graphic design?
Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving by the combining words, symbols and imagery. Graphic designers are responsible for most of the visuals in your everyday life:
- Visual identities (logos, branding)
- Stationary (business cards, letterheads, envelopes)
- Advertisements (billboards, online ads, magazine ads)
- Packaging
- Signage (building signage, wayfinding)
- Publications (magazines, books)
- Posters
What is web design?
Web design is the discipline of conceptualizing and creating purposeful, user-centric websites. Web designers design websites that are intuitive to use and move the audience through the site in a logical path. There is some cross over between the skill sets required in graphic design, web design and web development.
What is branding?
Branding is often wrongfully used synonymously with logo design. Logo design is only one facet of branding among many others; vehicle decals, uniforms, PR messaging, ad copy, etc. More accurately, a brand is the customer’s perception of a specific company or product. It’s the idea or feelings they associate with it. A brand helps differentiate a product from the competition with perceived benefits and elevates it from being a purely price-based commodity.
